User review by amandalisinski – Romantic resturant with great service. The food was excellent. I would go back myself and I would recommend this resturant to someone who wanted to try something exotic. We celebrated Valentines Day here........and it made the day extra special.
With sultry, modern decor and a Mediterranean menu to match, this is one of Chicago's most exotic – Middle Eastern meets modern in this stylish River North space, where copper-plated tables, hypnotic sitar music and a decor rich with red, blue and gold set an exotic mood. Tizi Melloul's Mediterranean menu starts with tempting appetizers like fire-roasted mussels with warm harissa butter. Entrees range from grilled lamb loin with artichokes and fava beans to marinated duck breast with lentils and applewood bacon. Black-clad b... read more
Perfection Sans Pretention – Somewhere between the chic of Soho and the exotic allure of Casablanca lies Tizi Melloul. The exotic decor wasn't as intoxicating as the bartender who created a drink especially for my friend. (which she loved) Enticed me to visit their Lincoln Square location (Acquilina sp?) for Sunday Brunch -which I LOVED. the chicken panini and KILLER chips. The owner & staff were VERY warm & friendly--me being an out of town guest now have an excuse to visit Chicago again!
Dreadful Evening – The food, service, and ambiance would be barely acceptable if the price per person was one $. This place will attract many people looking for a fun atmosphere. But, most will walk out saying that the quality and price do not match. Never going back here.
Average – The decor was really nice with a theme. The crowd was a younger crowd which was nice for us. The food I think was average. They were good but there were better places you can try for the same prices. The service was good too, we had a very helpful waiter. Try this place if you want to go for the environment.
amazing experience, amazing food – We dined in the Cresent room which was truly out of this world... the food was beyond belief, some of the best I've had. Belly dancer - quite talented. Service was a little slow. Signature drinks are good - try the Fizzy Tizi especially. The atmosphere in the Crescent Room is marvelous, unique... outside in the bar and dining room it's quite crowded. The chance to share a hookah among friends should not be missed!
This place is the best! – I've eaten here several times and love the food and decor so it was hands down the only place I wanted to go for my birthday dinner. Not only did the kitchen go out of its way to accommodate my vegan friend, but the menus were customized with a special birthday message. The server and manager came by to say happy birthday and they even brought out a candle in my dessert. The place is cool and hip, but there's not attitude like other places. In fact, they went out of their way to be friendly and make... read more
Good for drinks and hookah – This is one of the few places in town where they have hookah pipes. They have a killer tobacco list and well priced drinks. The bar is small but nice. Didn't eat, but the menu looks pretty interesting.
All show, no go – The food was horrible across the board. The most frequently used adjetive at our table was bland bland bland. We started eith the feta crisps which were recommended, but got extremely greasy phylo filled with a flavorless white substance that was purported to be cheese. It went downhill from there. My fish entree was boring and overcooked. The menu and decor are very misleading, everything looks like it will be great, but the kitchen doesn't deliver. The decor may impress your see-and be seen date, but the ... read more
