The original site of the Pitcairn Aircraft Company. Formed in 1926, producers of the Autogyro (Autogiro), Harold Frederick Pitcairn purchsed the property and built the airfield that later became known as Naval Air Station Willow Grove when in 1942 the US Government commandeered the airfield and most of the facilities for the war effort. Pitcairn Aircraft Company retained the small facility (now Tinius Olsen) and continued to produce Autogiro aircraft until 1948.
