Less pricey than Holiday Inn; more relaxed, within walking distance of Canyon de Chelly Visitor Center, cafeteria and gift shop on site, and friendly personnel everywhere.
If you want to visit Canyon de Chelly (and frankly, why wouldn't you), you should absolutely stay in the park at the Thunderbird Lodge. The rooms were very nice and the folks working are some of the nicest people's around.
The place is immaculately maintained, the grounds are beautiful. The office staff were very nice and helpful. Our room was beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed it! We plan to go back there and we would definitely stay at Thunderbird Lodge again!!
The place shows its age in a good way.
