My mom had a TKR 10 months ago. At 3 months post op she was still having a lot of pain, causing her to change her gait to compensate which resulted in back pain. She asked Dr. Gautsch about it and he said “fix your back and your knee will get better.” 10 months later she’s still having significant pain. Allergy testing revealed a severe allergy to nickel which is present in her implant. She called and spoke with his nurse who said “all instrumentation has nickel” which is untrue. I had knee surgery here in September of 2024. I did great at first but the the last 4 months my knee hurts worse than it did to begin with. I went back and recieved a 10 minute exam with xrays and was told the knee looks good. I was very disappointed in the follow up. I know there are things that don't show up in xrays. So, I'm still in a lot of pain and going to see a different doctor to see if he can figure out what is wrong. It's just very disappointing. I had to have both of my knees completely redone four years after Dr. Gautsch put in my knees replacements. BOTH of my knee replacements had come loose. I went to a knee revision specialist who corrected the problem. Wish I had found that second surgeon first and saved myself a lot of time and pain.

Today is two weeks post total knee replacement. So far I am extremely happy with my results. I can walk again without pain. Left surgery center walking on my own day of surgery. If you want great results you have to have a great surgeon and do the physical therapy. On my follow up today, he told me I could get back on my bike. That made me so happy.
