Patient is always wrong, clueless, or stupid in his world. Never a positive thing to say. Never any encouragement to motivate his patient. Only continuous criticism of any comment or concern we offer. He is incredibly disrespectful each and every time we have a follow up visit. Dr. Nasty to ruin your day! Seriously poor interaction with us. We are apparently not the only ones feeling this way. Other reviews also address his nasty attitude. Just say no when offered Dr Shuler as a physician. He will only make you feel stupid a... read more

I had a nerve problem in my elbow. Mentioned to the scheduler that I also had a bit of wrist pain, but not bad. I'd had a small accident recently and hurt my wrist. Nothing bad. By the time the appointment came, I my wrist was fine. He ordered a wrist X-ray and was angry when I refused the X-ray. Squeezed it hard to try and make it hurt. Wouldn't look at me until I had an elbow X-ray. Then refused to treat it. He was arrogant, condescending, and generally rude. I'd NEVER see him again. In fact, I tell me friends to avoid him... read more

My mother fell and broke her hip. Another surgeon said she would need a complete hip replacement and would hopefully walk again. We had her transported to Roanoke and Dr Shular determined she only need a partial replacement. She was up and walking in a day or so, had no complications and healed completely. He may not have a warm and fuzzy bedside manner, but his skills are impressive.

Business response:

Thank you. We are so happy to hear about your mother's experience!

I don’t like giving this person 1 star. My husband went to him in horrible condition needing hip replacement surgery. Was told to lose weight and come back in a few months. He did. Not good enough, plus the child who checked him in measured him shorter! Come back in a few months! Lost more weight, bone on bone, severe pain mind you. Back in a few months, in a wheelchair! Child checks him in, shorter again! I said ‘you know he can’t stand up straight’? Doesn’t matter. Come back in a few months, he said! Yeah right! We went to... read more

Two visits thus far. I left the first one feeling as if his bed side manner could use some improvement but gave him the benefit of the doubt. Was LIVID after the last visit. Asks if you have questions or need anything else-but clearly perturbed when you do. He should at least think to close his office door if he’s going to run his mouth to his nurse about a patient after he leaves the exam room. Very unprofessional!

No complaints. Highly recommend. Dr. Shuler is very knowledgeable and skilled in his profession, and has a sharp eye for detail. By enabling my mother to walk again, Dr. Shuler not only improved her quality of life, but he literally saved her life! I cannot thank him enough for giving my sisters and I our mother back, and for returning my father’s deepest and greatest love. Moreover, besides Dr. Shuler’s professionalism and perfectionism, he also presents himself as sincere and compassionate.

The medical staff here is top notch. The medical staff is warm, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. My needs were met and my questions were answered. Check-in time to consultation time with Dr. Shuler was very efficient with minimal to no wait time.
