Dr. Shomaker is genuinely concerned for his patients well-being. He does not rush to get to the next apt, and he is patient to answer questions and listen to both parents and the kids. He does talk fast, but that’s not a reflection of impatience and seems to be more about covering everything thoroughly. I think he would like to have no time constraints with his patients. The missing star is due to the Corwell affiliation but that’s the only option around our area.
He completely downplayed the severity of my newborns illness. I had to beg him to do an rsv swab (turned out to be positive). He said it was no big deal, even if she had rsv she would be fine and it was “no different than any other virus”. At this point, she was already having labored breathing and chest retractions and he blew it off. Made me feel dumb for being worried. 2 hours later I was in the ER with her and she got almost immediately transferred to Bronson. She stayed in the hospital for 8 days. Hes very thorough and kind but talks SO fast sometimes i feel like i dont know what he said.
He takes the time to get to know his patients. He helps parents feel at ease and explains things clearly. As a parent you want your children to have the best care possible and I believe Dr Schomaker is that.

Dr. Schomaker has cared for all three of my children since birth and is a caring physician who always took the time to make sure he understood our concerns and addressed every need.
