I recently used Third Federal for a HELOC, and my experience was excellent, contrary to some of the negative reviews out there. The online application process was straightforward. I had zero issues using their website to apply or upload my documents. I submitted everything on June 25th, and the loan was fully funded by July 17th. It honestly would have closed sooner, but I took my time shopping for other rates and the July 4th holiday slowed things down. I was refinancing my HELOC with another company when I received a flyer from Third Federal in the mail. They were offering a lower rate so I called to inquire. They offered me more money at a lower rate so of course I proceeded with my refinance through them. I canceled my refinance with the first company. Third Federal then kept asking for more and more paperwork even after I had submitted everything they originally asked for. Then I received a phone call from a guy I’d never dealt with before. Their HELOC loan process is inefficient. The website requires unnecessary steps to access your HELOC, making navigation cumbersome and poorly designed. Many banks offer a seamless experience, but this one does not. I recommend choosing another bank and plan to close this HELOC when it matures.

I applied for both a bridge and purchase loan with Third Federal and had a very smooth experience from start to finish. Andrea was my loan officer and was very responsive and professional throughout the whole process, and the interest rate was the lowest I could find in the current market. I would recommend Third Federal for anyone looking to purchase a home.

Sure you can open and fund a CD Account online, but to cash out you have to call and be placed on hold. Then the only way to cash out is via a check mailed to you. You can't cash it out at a local branch. You certainly can't have it transferred it to the bank you funded the CD with that would be too convenient and we can't have that in the year 2024. If they can't handle simple savings products online I wouldn't trust them with anything else of importance.
