ThermoWorks is not only the gold standard for thermometers but also for customer service. I bought two of their thermometers, but had difficulty changing the batteries. I sent them back to ThermoWorks, and they not only changed the battery but also recalibrated the thermometers. I understand this kind of service is only available if you buy directly from them, and I see no reason why not to.
