A friend of mine plays in a band that was performing at the Yantic River Inn so I went to see him play. Great atmosphere! Everyone was having a good time watching the band and the food was great. I had fried calamari and clam chowder. Both were better than I could have hoped for. And the bartender is fantastic. Definitely coming back to see other live acts.
This restaurant has existed under this name for a long time, and it's been a haven for the geriatric, who enjoy the meat-potato-salad-bar fare. It did not upset their digestive tracts or challenge their calcified worldview. Yeah boy, I couldnt agree with this fella more. The Mrs and I used to drive up to Norwich years back just to eat at the Yantic River Inn. The food was great then, the bar was great then, the salad bar was great then, and the help was great then. Now this place is a roach motel. Dont waste your money and dont waste your time. Stop at Subway and get a sandwich for the ride home cause youre just wasting your money at this place. Give this place another try. It has a new make over. Tastefully decorated, good food, reasonable prices, and the service was very good. I will add it to my regular list of places to eat out.
I am rating one star to this resturant simply because the food was good... the service, on the other hand, was horrible. We went on Father's Day and even though it was a holiday, it wasn't as busy as some other resturants I have seen. The waitress was absolutely horrible. She was slow, rude, and acted as if she couldn't understand plain english. My poor Mom and daughter got their food after everyone else was almost done eating.
