Visited Thusday 10/15 from Texas. We were greeted and quickly sat. Seemed like an inconvenience coming 1.5 hours in before closing on a restaurant that was semi empty. Our server was a younger bald guy who didn’t seem to give a shite about us. Coming from NYC, I’m no stranger to the occasionally aloof service at trendy, upscale restaurants. There’s a difference, however, between chic indifference and simply making guests feel unwelcome, and The Wine Bar at Emeril’s managed to land firmly in the latter category. The most disappointing part of this experience was how genuinely unwelcome we felt. Our waiter treated our group with a level of disdain and rudeness that would be unacceptable at any restaurant, let alone one with this name behind it. Plates were cleared before people had finished eating, without asking. When a friend at another table asked for iced tea, they were rudely told, “We don’t have that here,” only for another friend at a separate table to be served iced tea. I was appalled by the customer service here. Compared to everywhere else we’ve visited in New Orleans, most of the staff came off as inhospitable, curt, and even dismissive. We arrived early for our reservation, figuring it might be possible to have a drink standing around at the bar (as most places will customarily allow you to do). We were looking for a light dinner spot while walking around and managed to get two seats at the bar at 6pm on a Thursday and what good luck! Alexa and Jesus took such great care of us. We shared the BBQ shrimp and bread. The flavors were absolutely incredible, the biscuit was perfectly buttery and flaky. The punch came in an adorable tea cup. Also had an affogato with mind blowing chicory ice cream and got to taste a new drink Alexa was working on, which was easily the best drink I’ve ever tasted. Such a great experience.
