Really cool atmosphere. But would not go back for the food. We had ceviche app and steak. Both were fresh but bland and chewy. Also price on menu is cash price. Really nice patio.

Wait times weren’t terrible. Food was decent, but very small portions. Had to order more which was a little upsetting because of how expensive this place is! Great options for drinks as well! Had a reservation as well and ended up waiting to be seated for about 20 minutes.

Meal with a view, both are great. Like their sister restaurants, they have spin on each of their dishes. Velveteen Plum has a Cuban twist on their dishes. I have enjoyed every dish whether it is brunch, lunch, or dinner. Enjoy a cocktail and the view out the large windows or sit on the rooftop patio. The only problem with this place is the parking situation since it is located in an apartment building, signage is not the best and knowing where to park. I cannot recommend The Velveteen Plum enough. My organization held an event there and the entire process from the booking, to the event itself was exceptional. Apart from the event, all of my personal visits since they’ve been open have also been excellent. Great service, incredible drinks, and fantastic food, has always been consistent. One of the very best places not just in Wausau but in all of central Wisconsin.
