Food is always mediocre. But the vibe is good. Fun place to go for a special occasion. No real mocktails available according to the server, it would be a nice thing to add. Food lacks flavor and is just all around bland for the most part. Staff is always so nice and knowledgeable.
We spent the day in Clayton on the spur of the moment. We spent the night at the Bridge Creek Inn. We decided to have drinks in the bar and then dinner at the Vandiver. We have no regrets. We enjoyed talking with the bartender. Naomi was our waitress at dinner and she was delightful! My husband had shrimp scampi and I had the chicken piccata. They were both delicious!!! We have decided to come back and stay again in a couple of weeks for the Scottish Festival.
A great place to celebrate wife’s birthday. They accommodated our requests for changes to the menu items. The food and service were excellent!
Go to The Vandiver! Some of the other “nice” places in Clayton are over-priced and not worth it. The Vandiver was EXCELLENT. We shared the truffle fries to start (yum!) and had the crab cake entree and trout entree. Everything was delicious. And bonus points for labeling what was gluten free (plenty of options too). Our server was super friendly and polite. This restaurant exceeded our expectations. Definitely worth the splurge, much more than the other upscale restaurants in the area. The vibes were nice too. Enjoy!
