I’ve unfortunately had to use the health clinic for as long as I’ve been a student here for many of reasons. After finally ditching the clinic and seeking out a professional center I’ve realised just how unprofessional and unfriendly those at the student health clinic are. The last thing a student needs is a judgmental, rude, and frankly disrespectful attendant like Kimyata to walk them back to the doctors room. Having gone to Iowa for undergrad and now grad school I’ve had plenty of opportunity to use student health. I cannot say enough good things about the providers and medical support staff. However there is a major issue with whoever fields phone calls for the clinic. Every interaction I’ve ever had with them ranges from dismissive at best to downright hostile. Waited over an hour past my appointment time before I was seen. Seriously ridiculous since it wasn’t even that busy and multiple people were called before me when I had a set appointment. And I hate being that person who complains about wait time since I work in the hospital setting, but this was just beyond frustrating as it’s not even QuickCare. Front desk was kind of rude and unwelcoming. Never wanna come back here again. Should’ve brought a book as I could’ve finished it while waiting.
As a third year student (currently), I have had a couple visits with Student Health. Overall, the staff was very professional and respectful for the majority of visits I've had. Sometimes, depending on the day, the receptionists have been rude/impatient with helping you, and I have seen others say things similar to this.
Horrifying administrative team. After years of going here, I’ve had countless issues that were all due to the poor planning/ unknowledgeable front desk staff. Routinely greeted with an attitude. They should consider fixing their online platform to allow you make appointments without conversing with their administrative staff.
