We are local and it has been on our “to do list” for awhile now. About 1.5 yrs ago we saw a release (Fleming) and it was an amazing experience. Getting to see these amazing animals be cared for was a wonderful experience everyone should have.
The Turtle Hospital is a true hidden gem located on the bay side of Marathon Key. While the venue was beautiful and pristine, the operation was incredible!!! A former motel the owners renovated the property to a state-of-the-art Turtle Hospital. The personnel were amazing - brilliant and passionate about their mission!! This facility is a MUST SEE - you will learn a great deal about turtles and how us humans can be their worst enemy!!! 🐢❤️🐢
Loved this place and love what they do there. The tour is absolutely worth the admission price and the guide was very knowledgeable. Hope to come back some time.
We were lucky to meet the founders on the ferry to fort Jefferson. WhAt an amazing thing they have done. First moved down here to run a hotel with a salt water pool. Turned the pool into a close encounter with the local sea life. Ended up rescuing turtles and finally purchasing the strip cub next door to expand the hospital. Now dedicated to rescuing and releasing turtles back into the wild. They have a couple which are long term residents which can no longer be released back into the wild. Just a wonderful group of people.
