We loved it so much, we went twice! They do wonderful work at this hospital and the 90 min tour allows you to get a deep understanding of sea turtles and how they end up in the care of this very special place.
EVERYONE WHO VISITS 'THE TURTLE HOSPITAL' GOES BACK EACH TIME THEY RETURN TO THE LOWER KEYS. ITS AN AWESOME PLACE!!! GREAT TOUR AND MEGA INFORMATION ABOUT ALL TURTLES...YOUNG, OLD, SICK, HEALTHY, BIG, SMALL AND LOVED BY ALL
The short presentation at the beginning was super informative and a great introduction to why some turtles end up at the Turtle Hospital. Then we went on a tour of the hospital and got to see the operating room. We then were guided to where the turtles are kept. We were introduced to each turtle by name and told a little bit about why they were there. We then got to see the permanent residents that were not able to be released for some reason or other. We went yesterday for a tour and I’m really glad we did. We’ve been coming to the keys for 4 years in a row now and I’ve always wanted to go to the turtle hospital. The guide was very knowledgeable and could tell her love for the turtles. I thought it would be a little different than what it was but I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Basically the majority of the tour is outside in a netted area but man was it hot. I do wish they had better airflow as I am 7 months pregnant but other than that it was nice to see the love th... read more
