⭐⭐⭐⭐ A great East Village base with timeless rooms, held back only by service Location is the main draw. The East Village is my favorite part of the city, with shopping, dining and plenty of interesting spots within a short walk, like 12 Matcha and Justin's Salt Bread. The hotel opened in 2008, but the layout and rooms are beautifully maintained and the design has aged well. Upper floors have great downtown and Empire State Building views. Very Disappointing Experience – Poor Service and Unfair Charges Extremely disappointed with this hotel and its staff. We had an approved late checkout, yet we were still charged extra without any clear communication or explanation. The staff were unprofessional, and the information they provided was misleading. To make matters worse, we were charged for minibar items that we never used. When we raised our concerns, the team was unhelpful and failed to provide a reasonable explanation. The room was incredibly small, and the service was absolutely terrible! I called to inform them that I was running late because I was feeding my newborn. They assured me that there was no problem, but when I checked out, they charged me an outrageous $150. It was completely unprofessional. To make matters worse, they charged me for mini items in the fridge that I didn’t even take.

Staff is great but the Highline location, in terms of rooms, is much better across the board - The service and staff are 15/10 - friendly, helpful, and funny - If you've stayed at The Standard Highline, these rooms are about 50% smaller and less nice than those so don't assume you'll have the same experience - The bathrooms don't have fans so they get incredibly steamy which makes the rooms themselves warm because all the steam just goes into the bed area.
