Last year May2025 we had two fabulous massages experience’s. This years experience was drastically different. We got a couples massage. Last year we had nice relaxing Hawaii music. This year it was eerie sounding and depressing. We did ask to have the music changed which took at least 5 min if not more where she was fiddling with her phone. This was a disappointing experience. The Spa at Black Rock did not live up to the Sheraton’s four-star standard. The front desk felt unwelcoming, the relaxation room (waiting room) was underwhelming, and the treatment room was bright and noisy. I could hear hotels guests and staff activity from outside throughout my session. While I requested a firm massage, the therapist’s technique felt rushed and harsh rather than soothing. Overall, not the relaxing prenatal experience I was expecting.
I get a massage at almost every resort we stay at—both internationally and in the US—and this was by far my least favorable experience. My masseuse was Chandler. Right when we entered the treatment room, she immediately tried to upsell additional services. Her sales pitch repeated everything the receptionist had already offered and took up valuable time that should have been dedicated to relaxation. Worst massage I’ve had!!! The therapist ran around the room the whole time! Nothing about the massage was professional, therapeutic or relaxing! The hot stones were cold and she barely used them. She would “massage my shoulders then move to my right calf and then my left thigh and then back to my right foot. She literally did laps around the bed and never focused on one area and at time.
