I would say I am from Maryland but I would definetly recommend this restaurant to all my friends on their way to the Big Apple and more specifically Brooklyb. The Smoked chicken is really of the Hook as well as the Mac&cheese yummy I went back the next day for the SSSSSSSSHHHHHHHRRRRIIIIMMMP it was delicious with some greens The customer service is wonderful and I got the chance to talk to chef Amadou nice and helpful To anyone make sure you stop by Broo... read more
Hmmm Brooklyn – I really like this place. I went on a Tuesday. It wasn't crowded but there are limited seats. Very comforable place just to get a good piece of BBQ. i had the Baby got back ribs. They were good and I was given 3 tasting sauces. All of them were equally yummy. The mac and cheese was good and creamy just the way i like it. Looking forward to tasting some other things
Fabulous BBQ - Great addition to the neighborhood – Perhaps I'm coming a bit late to the discussion, but in response to the person who witnessed some kitchen strife while ordering, I'd like to say that my boyfriend and I have ordered takeout from the Smoke Joint about once a week since they opened and I have never witnessed an argument or any bad behavior on the part of the staff (or my fellow diners, for that matter). I promise that what you experienced was an anomaly. We've never experienced anything less than friendly, gr... read more
finally! fantastic bbq in brooklyn! – The Smoke Joint is the real thing! We were tired of having to travel for even decent bbq - now we have fantastic ribs practically right around the corner! My favorite is the beef ribs - huge, juicy, and wonderful when paired with the brown sugar bbq sauce. The spares and baby backs are also great. I don't agree that the sides are lacking (complaints I've heard) - the mac and cheese, fries, and the corn are so good! I'm not a greens fan, but i've heard from fellow diners that they are pre... read more
My Bad – I would like to thank everyone for their generous support of The Smoke Joint. We are still a new restaurant and living up to and maintaining the level of service that our customers expect is exciting yet challenging. Maintaining an open kitchen is a world away from the traditional and mysterious kitchen behind the closed door. With our customers right there with us, talking to us, laughing with us, watching every step, our desire to ?get it right? is sent into the stratosphere. We take the opinions of our customers ... read more
Good food but I don't want to hear you berate your employees – I understand yelling at your employees is part of restaurant management culture, but frankly I don't want to hear it while I am waiting on line to order my food. The way the space is set up you stand face to face with the people preparing your meal and the entire time you are waiting you have to listen to the manager/owner berate the line cooks for screwing up this or that and by the time you get your food you wish you had not given the guy any money.
Great 'cue!! – What a welcome addition to the area!! I totally disagree about the editorial review knocking the pork ribs--I thought they were amazingly flavorful and cooked to perfection!! Some of the sides like the mac 'n cheese and the slaw could use improvement, but most of the menu is the real deal. Spicy, smoky, flavorful, delicious all around.
Fort Greene barbecue shack aims to add Brooklyn flair to the genre. – The Scene Friends and chefs Craig Samuels and Ben Grossman have succeeded in appealing to the casual, eclectic Fort Greene crowd. The wood-covered building, with its front porch open to the street and its small table-and-chairs interior, suits the counter-service atmosphere. Samuels and Grossman advertise their smoking as influenced by multiple cultures, including Southern, Latin and Asian, but they call their version "Brooklyn-style." The Food And what do... read more
