About this business

This funky pizza joint, The Sink, on University Hill is one of the best student budget spots in town. The fact that Robert Redford once worked as a janitor here during his short stint at CU is their claim to fame, yet celebrities and dignitaries continue to visit for the burgers, even President Obama once visited. The pizzeria stays open till late, making it popular with the college crowd. It offers three crust choices based on density. Food is made from scratch and they always feature the choice of 100 percent grass-fed bee... read more

New chef and manager in 2008 -- try it again! – If you have not been to The Sink for a while, try it again. The food has definitely improved and includes more fresh, house-made items. They are getting product from local ranchers and farmers who practice sustainable agriculture. The end result, more healthy and tasty food on your plate. Look for the "premium colorado burger" and other local ingredients. Plus, they use recyclable/compostable service products and practice recycling and composting to the maximum extent possible.

Poor customer service – The food is decent, the atmosphere is interesting. The menu is certainly eclectic, but not always as good as it could be. I ordered a salad with Balsamic vinagrette and the dressing was only oil and balsamic vinager...I couldn't get anything but oil out of the plastic cup. We waited for over an hour for our "sinkburgers", pretty good once we got them, but we had to leave right after we shoved them down our throats. Our waiter was nowhere to be found when we needed our check...I went in search of him a... read more

Good pizza – Have only visited The Sink for lunch, I am sure the vibe changes at night. The menu is great. Had a personal pizza that was great and more than enough for one. Chicken sandwich is wonderful too. Went next store to check out the merchandise, the owner was in there. She was so friendly and welcoming, we'll will visit for sure on our next trip.

Boulder's most storied bar serves up a quirky vibe as well as grub. – In Short Originally opened as Sommer's Sunken Garden in 1928, this dive has come to be Boulder's most beloved bar. Officially dubbed The Sink in 1949, the joint spent the '80s as a deli. Inside, low ceilings are autographed by thousands, and the walls are adorned with murals. The food is typical of many college hangouts: The feature menu item is the Ugly Crust pizza, which, as expected, comes with loads of greasy toppings.

Food - Has good history, with all the caricatures on the wall of people who have been there (Robert Redford used to be a janitor there). Decent food, pizza is pretty good. Has a very low roof. Bar - At night turns into a crowded bar, nicely priced drinks ($3.50 imported beer). Monday night is packed, it is flip night, where you have a 50% chance on the flip of a coin that you could get your drink for 25 cents. Lots of greeks (frat/soroity).

It's got history. – I love the Sink because it's got so much history and it's a fun place to have a pizza and some beers.

burger heaven – The sink not only serves the best pizza in Boulder but it all started with the Sinkburger. A half pound burger with the famous Sink Hickory sauce has been a tradition at CU for over 50 years. The Sink is my favorite lunch spot. I used to have a hard time going there on nice days because it is a bit dark but they added sidewalk seating this summer. The scenery is the best in Boulder.

"The Stink" – It smells like beer, but the sink still has the best burgers and pizza in the state of CO.
