I want to share a very disappointing experience. We waited for 6 hours at the emergency department, only to be told that there was no doctor available to operate on my son’s ear. They booked us in for the next day and assured us the procedure would be done. However, when we returned the next day, the doctor told us that the emergency department had given us the wrong advice, and that we now have to wait another week just to make an appointment. My son recently had urgent surgery at the Royal Children's Hospital, and I cannot praise the medical team enough. The surgeons, doctors, and nurses were all incredibly professional, caring, and supportive. Unfortunately, this positive experience was overshadowed by a deeply unprofessional and rude encounter with a security guard when I was trying to ask very politely about the parking discount for patients. i was shock as the guard (an Indian-looking man) was extremely unhelpful and dismissive from the start. The phone line is broken. It is literally impossible to reach the outpatient clinic via phone call. Following the pre-recorded voice prompts always loops back to first set of options. I then tried multiple times for other clinics to connect me and even had an operator try to connect me to the outpatient clinic, and every time, it looped back to the first set of pre-recorded voice prompts. Dr. Louis Photiou was very empathetic toward my daughter’s skin condition and took great care in thoroughly examining her and explaining the available treatment options. I’m very grateful for the time she took to make us feel comfortable and at ease.
