The great beer and friendly & helpful staff are what keep me coming back. The Rare Barrel specializes in barrel aged sour beers. They offer around 10 of their own on tap or as bottle pours. If you're not familiar with sours or just have a question, the friendly folks behind the bar will happily answer your questions, offer suggestions and even provide sample pours. If you don't like sour beers, they have around 5 guest taps with other types of beers, plus 2 guest wines and 1 guest cider. For food they currently offer a grill... read more
Fantastic beers in a cool open space. The lady from Tennessee was super cool and knowledgeable. I brought goodies back to Chicago.
Spectacular beer! As a beer nerd, I appreciated the fact that each of their beers are quite distinctive (not always the case at other places!) and phenomenally made. Definitely the place to go if you're a sourhead. If you're not into sours, their guest taps are incredible examples of other styles so you can't go wrong there. Yes, they only have grilled cheese for food, but it's a tasty grilled cheese on sourdough (get it? Cause they only do sours!). This is a fantastic place. Highly recommended!!!
Jordan, Ash and Erin were very knowledgeable and accommodating. We had a great experience and wish we lived closer. Hope to be back someday.
