The Porter in Little Five Points is a small restaurant that does everything big. Burgers are served on over-sized plates heaped with garlic-and-cheese fries, and the beer selection is even more sizable. For extra style, each draft beer is served in its signature glass. The Porter doesn't rely on style alone: they emphasize quality beer paired with quality food. The restaurant looks small from the outside, but the long bar and back room with tables provides plenty of space for hungry (and thirsty) diners.

It's all true :) This place is fantastic. If you're looking for a _large_ selection of beer, excellently prepared bar food with vegetarian options, hip atmosphere and good service. I went there on a week night, sat at one of the many tables in the back. We got recommendations for beer and orders black bean burger / mussels / cesar salad. I messed up my order and asked for the arugula side salad after the order was already in; it got delivered promptly and didn't show on the bill. Wow. Service was prompt and with a smile. Don't Go Just for the Beer, the Food is Awesome too! – I've been to this place at least 6 times in the past couple of months. Don't get me wrong, I'm often deterred by the tourists and bums in L5P, but this place is well worth the slight annoyances you encounter on the streets. When this place is crowded (typically this is limited to the weekends), the service can be a little on the slow side. But keep in mind that a lot of their beers are locked up in the back of the restaurant, and there aren't that many waiters on staff..... read more
Uber Cool Beer Bar – Like a breath of (beer-tinged) fresh air, right in the center of funky-fresh L5P is The Porter Beer Bar. The beer menu reads like fiction, and makes every beer sound delectable, making it hard to choose. Never fear. The friendly staff is more than willing to give you a sample of what’s on draft (and there’s plenty on draft). The food is fabulous as well. Try the bacon-studded hushpuppies with the applesaucey dip (because everything’s better with bacon). Or try the crispy fries with their charred onion di... read more
Hidden Treasure/ Great Getaway – Great experience overall. Unique Food and Beers.
what a disappointment – Went to The Porter on a Friday night and was disappointed. Can't think of anything that was great about it. First sign of problems was a palmetto roachy completely frozen inside a piece of ice. It was like something out of Jurassic Park. The staff couldn't care less and actually they gave me a straw which was funny until I thought about how slack that is. And then I had the unnerving thought... Hey, when you have insects this size in the ice, they are living probably everywhere in that kitchen... Avoi... read more
With the best beer selection in L5P, the Porter dishes affordable suds and grub to a colorful crowd. – In Short To off-set the over-saturation of PBR-swilling nightspots and dingy pizza dens in Little Five Points, the Porter Beer Bar straddles the line of cool-indie-pub and specialty-beer-bar. The three-tiered, chute-of-a-room is masculine and warmly planked in wooden booths, vintage luggage (hence the name) and drinks are served from mason jars. The dark, classic facade mixed with the colorful clientele makes it feel like a... read more
