Saw the Orthopedic doctor on 16 Oct 2025 and was supposed to get a call to set up surgery. Over a month went by so I called to find out why I had not received a phone call back, no answers as usual so I left a message. A week went by and the day I was going to write my congressman for help I finally got a phone call. The usual we are 3 months behind (to call and set up a surgery date??). This is a leadership failure!!
Excellent repair of my broken femur. Surgeons came to my room each morning at 0530 to follow up on me and check wound. BAMC coordinated with local rehabilitation hospital for follow-up PT and OT.
Post-op care was terrible. No communication on convalescent leave despite multiple attempts to contact
Surgery appears to have went well. It’s the post-operative care and follow up that is lacking. It’s been two weeks, multiple messages left and no follow up on wound care (removal of staples) and no change in PT order to allow the patient to bear weight as much as they can tolerate. How can they expect an elderly patient to progress when there’s no follow up and they’ve placed limits on PT which prohibits progress. Very disappointing care from BAMC Orthopedics.
