I came to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for medical assistance that ended in a mental health crisis. I requested emergency assistance and accommodation. Instead of receiving informed triage, I was directed to a quiet area, where a staff member raised their voice and demanded that I leave. My requests for accommodation and a patient advocate were dismissed, and I was left unattended even after disclosing escalating hyperarousal, suicidal ideation, and while actively bleeding.
