I was admitted to the meadows involuntarily… in my first 72 hours on the unit I only saw one psych dr for a total of 5 mins. He diagnosed me with severed depressive state within those 5 mins because I cried talking about my husbands death 6 years ago. While on the unit myself and 10 other people including patients and staff were attacked by another patient in a 3 day period. My fiancé told me how horrible this place is, they don’t help you. They just pump you full of drugs and make you do paperwork and call it a day, no therapy or anything. They don’t follow the schedule they have for you and the staff themselves have told her straight up this program is a joke. She gets 10 different answers to any serious questions she asks so nobody there knows what’s going on or they don’t care to. I got admitted involuntarily at age 11. Please don't send your family here. They gave us razor blades and lighters and the staff would hit us and scream at us. All they did was pump you with drugs that made people worse. And they always say "if you don't eat we won't send you home" sounds okay right? WRONG. THEY DIDNT EVEN FEED US AND COMPLAINED WHEN THEY DIDNT FEED US. Honestly a horrible place. We need to work on mental hospitals here inn the US mental health isn't taken seriously. I went to the meadows September 20th 2024. I got out the 27th. Here is my experience. The staff was okay but I wanna shout out mike and I forget her name but she's blonde and she braided my hair and she's the best. Okay lets cut to the chase. So the food was okay but someone was there bc of ED and she didn't eat and they didn't care?
