When I learned that the Maverick is owned & operated by the historic Holland Hotel in Alpine I thought I could book with confidence. However, the presentation on the Maverick’s website is pretty misleading, and a far cry from the reality of the place. It’s too bad, because the Maverick has the potential to be a really great, renovated mid-century motor court. But it ain’t there yet. It’s “under renovation” all right. We stayed in a king/queen suite and the room was VERY spacious, cute and comfortable. It was very clean and staff were helpful, even getting us a rollaway bed. The pool was great. Not huge, but the kids loved jumping in the deep end. We were able to park near our room so loading/unloading the car was easy. Definitely would stay here again!
It's an overpriced dump. Just don't go here. Way overpriced for a cheap room. Bring your own toilet paper. You'll need it.
We stopped in for a night on our way to Big Bend back on the 4th of July and was very impressed with how courteous the employees were and how nice and clean the room was!
