You could fly to a different country and get a Dr. quicker. Even if you are one of 3 people in the whole ER, it will still take hours for them to see you. And even after you have been seen, it will take an hour or more just to get your discharge papers. But you are getting the best care, right!? Well, if being sent home with "probably a virus" that was actually a really bad pneumonia is the best care, then YES!
If your kid is really sick, call an ambulance. If you have nothing to do with your spare time, go to the emergency at Sick Kids. After 5 hours of waiting, we just gave up. The medical system in Canada is a joke. A medical system that needs more doctors.
Just abysmal. Came with my son who got a wound and have been waiting for 6 hours. Now is Sunday morning, I just quit waiting and going to another place.
I was there for over 6 hours and not a single doctor saw my child. The other staff also make no more than minimal effort. Finally, at 5.50am, when I realised I would likely not be getting medical attention, I left. When leaving, nobody asked why or how my child was doing, they simply said, "ok, what room were you in?". It's horrific how this is supposed to be the country's top children's hospital.
