This property is insecure as there is no 24 hour desk clerk/staff on duty after 7pm and the outside doors are not locked, leaving anyone free access to the property after hours. Individual room locks are antiquated, offering minimal security. The room was dirty, shabby and in overall poor condition. Other guests played loud music throughout the night, but with no staff on duty, we had little recourse. Close proximity to the train station and numerous train whistles made for a sleepless night. Excellent experience, especially for the price!! We enjoy staying in historic hotels and this was by far one of the best we’ve ever visited. The ambiance was wonderful, especially the lobby and courtyard which were exactly like the pics you’ll find on the website. Yes, there is an old smell, but it isn’t overly strong…it’s just what you will always have in a historic building. It seems to validate the age of the building and adds to the charm. The Holland Hotel is a beautiful hotel in downtown Alpine. We walked in to the hotel to check out the lobby and we were amazed.
