We tried Hick'ry Pit yesterday. prices are high but thought quality would stand out...NOPE. Small portion, fries were mushy, brought "gravy" for mashed potatoes that was actually a somewhat sweet sauce for meat to be cooked in, sandwich was just ok but small. server over touched our plates and food-had to ask her to please stop. Ridiculous. We will never go back.
the pies are the best in town and LONGEST suger-free ones also I've seen. bbq is some of the best I've had also.
I love this place for their pies. they're seasonal and always made daily fresh. they're always packed, heartily filled.
RecommendedSweet Southern style barbecue is the raison d’etre here. Prices are moderate and the service is very good: attentive but not pushy. One thing I especially like: I don’t taste pepper in the meat (I’m sensitive to pepper, so if I have any I want to add it myself). The French fries are fat and crisp, and upon request they will gladly add a shot of cherry syrup to your soda.
RecommendedGreat Smoked Pork Ribs! Its like walking back to 1975! Friendly consistent table service. They always seem to make a fresh pot of coffee!
