We had business coverage through The Hartford for 3 years, never filed a claim. In 2025, I wound down business significantly and asked them to adjust the policy accordingly. I was so upset by what happened to my neighbors that I felt compelled to write this review. We share a sewer line with them, it’s an old clay pipe, typical for homes on a hill like ours. When it needed repair, our kind neighbors agreed to split the cost since it’s a shared line. Our experiences with insurance, however, were completely different. Signed up for a home policy with The Hartford through an independent insurance agent. A couple weeks go by and suddenly I get a call from an inspector that says he's in town TODAY and can he come by THIS AFTERNOON to take photos of the inside and outside. Both my wife and I are at work until the evening, so we said we couldn't on such short notice. I’ve been working with their long-term disability team for over 8 months now, and the experience has been extremely frustrating. Communication has been consistently poor — I’ve always had to initiate contact, and updates are rarely provided unless I push for them. The representative I’ve been working with, Alfonzo, has been aggressive and unhelpful throughout the process.
