I had my sweet 16 here back in 2013. I'm 19 now..it really breaks my heart that its gone and that I'll never be able to go back
Our family has been visiting Koenig's for over 50 years and will likely continue as long as we and Koenig's live.
I no longer live in the area but was heartbroken to learn of their closing. This was my father's go-to place, as his law office was a few blocks away. When Dad died in 2001, we held his Memorial there. I was coming back to the area this weekend and hoping to have a family dinner there. What a loss! Thank you for years of good food, warmth and fantastic memories. There is no place like Koenig's any more.
So sorry to hear that you closed your doors. My husband and I have been going there since we first met in the mid 80's. We have had many family dinners and celebrations there including my daughters communion. Since I am born German ,going there was always like having a HOME cooked meal. We moved off Long Island a couple of years ago, and have not been back, Guess we will never have that chance again. Good luck to Bill and the wonderful staff.
My Father "Willie" Winkler was Head Chef for many years. I feel like part of my childhood and youth have died
Just to bad that some people today don't appreciate this kind of stuff.While have not been in awhile I am sorry to see it close.
