If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I attended this place as a child and a couple people in my family did and all they did was dismiss our generational trauma from substance and sexual abuse/ abandonment and make clients feel isolated from their own autonomy and care. I became a behavioral therapist myself in New York and this place is THE SADDEST EXCUSE for intervention you could possibly go. You deserve better.
My experience at the Guidance Center was very straightforward and effective. The wait time was relatively minimal, and the nurse who I spoke with was mellow and considerate. The workers at the front desk were helpful, and approachable. Dr. Farris was very understanding during our evaluation and made me feel heard. They are clearly trained well in their fields and ensure that patients are comfortable in their presence. Overall, it was a great experience and the environment was very professional.
These people need guidance from a lawyer
I feel that the Guidance Center is very unprofessional. Not only did they misdiagnose me for years, I basically felt they never helped me. I have been going to Dubois since 2003 and avoid them at all costs. A note unfortunately I had to get a different provider since last summer. Another person here said they obsess over your weight. Yep. Put me on a med that I gained 100 pounds on. They blamed it on me. Once I was taken off the med I lost it. I don't think they continue to get any caring or knowledgible doctors. I have never been treated so discourteously by a “professional” therapist in my life. We took our daughter there for therapy prescribed by her psychiatrists. After the intake, we saw the therapist briefly to set up appointments for treatment. After waiting 4 weeks for the appointment, the day finally arrived. We went for the appointment today at which point we were told by the therapist #1 that she could not see her due to insurance issues and #2 that she didn’t believe that the therapy was “appropriate.” Your therapist need... read more
