First time in Helena, and I had an awesome time walking around the beautiful old town area surrounding this excellent bar. Very interesting and palpable history. On my way walking back to my hotel I noticed a large police presence, and was informed that there was an active shooter situation and that I should seek shelter inside. Luckily, I was next to The Gold and Western Bar, so I knocked and eventually won my way inside to safety. Sara, the bartender, was holding down the situation impeccably.
