Like conflicted teenager, needs to grow up – The Glenwood seems conflicted. On the one hand, the menu looks good, the beer list is extensive and the plating very delicate. On the other, the clientele and barstaff are raucous and mismatched and apparently like to play Slipknot on the jukebox. The table service strives to be fine-dining/gastropub and the bar just doesn't seem to care. Some drinks came out wrong or not at all, and when I needed change, I had to wait for the bartender to finish thrashing to whatever was assaulti... read more
Good food. Great beer. Excellent atmosphere. – We've been here a few times and have yet to be disappointed. Waitstaff is excellent; very knowledgable, particuarly helpful with beer selections if you don't know what you're doing. Vibe is laid-back; warm colors, pub-style wood benches, LCD TV, standing shuffleboard table and darts. There's a jukebox but when it's not running, there's electronic/indie music playing. The crowd is mostly 30- to 40-somethings, but there are several young-at-hearts and college kids so it's a pretty... read more
A Strong Showing for East-Atlanta Village – I moved to the EAV about 8 months ago and have had the opportunity to eat and imbibe at every dining establishment in the area. I continually find myself and friends returning time and again to The Glenwood to partake of the excellent dining and service experience. The menu blossums with new culinary creations with every change in the season. The chef (they have an actual, classically trained chef) also creates daily menu items, soups and cheese specials. There is always something ... read more
Ambitious menu fails to impress, rising prices, changes needed – I once loved this restaurant for it was a diamond in the rough. A creative, clean, rather-upscale local pub-like atmosphere with a super warm staff that made guests feel special and appreciated. All this has gradually changed to the point where my disappointment forces me to give constructive criticism. Prices have twice increased while portions have decreased making this a very expensive option. Also, food quality has gone down dramatically. Staff has also cha... read more
Excellent Food – Recently, my girlfriend and I had an excellent evening at The Glenwood. The food was great and the service was excellent.
Nice room...., nice staff....food way overrated – First and foremost, just go ahead and take the deviled eggs off the menu immediately...this has got to be the poorest excuse for a deviled egg I've ever had....not that anybody ever makes them better than your Aunt or your Mom, but this is a disgrace. IF you have no auntie's or Mom then simply go to the spotted Pig in NYC or Holman and Finch for closer proximity for a tutorial on how deviled eggs are supposed to be done. I've had better deviled eggs in a pickup counter at an ... read more
What a Gastropub! – My wife and I a great experience while visiting The Glenwood in Atanta's East Village! The food was terrific. My wife and I had the heirloom tomato sampler and pimento cheese plate for appetizers. We could not have asked for more fresh, tasty tomatoes; and the homemade pimento cheese and fried dill pickles were out of this world. I had the grilled salmon ,which was delicious, and my wife had the rapidly becoming famous 'Turducken' Burger. You've got to visit to try the 'Turducken' Burger if for no other r... read more
East Atlanta hangout aims to please the neighbors with an impressive beer selection and creative pub grub. – In Short East Atlanta's version of the gastropub has fast become a neighborhood favorite. The beer list is long - especially the bottles - and chef Ryan Stewart's menu, which ranges from Eastern North Carolina barbecue to chicken-fried filet mignon, encourages folks who come for a beer after work to sit down in one of the dark wooden booths and stay awhile. The secluded back patio, offering a respite from the cigarett... read more
