About this business

This restaurant is a well-established member of the Newport Beach dining community it has been around since the 1950s and shows no signs of aging. There is an additional location in Tustin if you are not this far south. Knowing that it is not appearance that counts but taste, this restaurant is very casual and serves its fish on paper plates. Patrons range from regular Joes to celebrity superstars, but the place is always packed, and there is usually a wait for a table. It is famous for Manhattan clam chowder but everything ... read more

A little disappointed I was told that this place had the best clam chowder. I thought it was mediocre. My fish salad (like tuna but not tuna) was simply OK. The bread was great and the service excellent. Very inexpensive. It is in a great location - nice area to walk or bike around and explore.

Great broiler seafood. I've been going here for years. Great broiler seafood. One of the best for years and years. They have these classy old fashion pictures on the wall, both New England and Boston Clam Chowder, last time I checked. Great food.

Crab Cooker Yummy I enjoy eating at the Crab Cooker .I Love there FISHERMAN'S BREAD and the best CLAM CHOWDER Ever! The waitresses are extremely friendly and everyone - even the cooks - seem to be enjoying their time there. It's crowded at both lunch and dinner, so either go a little early for dinner, and later for lunch. It has been there since 1951 In Newport Beach. Great Place. If you can look past the plastic dinnerwear, you'll be fine. The prices are very reasonable for serving fish.

Noisy and overpriced............................................Food was OK I went there to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was funny that they dressed him up in a dress and wig and then he pranced around the restaurant. I had the salmon which was good but not great. It is a little noisy and overpriced for my taste. PROS: Decent Food CONS: Noisy and overpriced

Overpriced and small portions I really wanted to like the Crab Cooker, there is always a huge wait to get in so I figiured it had to be a great place. I had a guest in town, and decided to take them out to the Crab Cooker. While the service and food were good, the portions were extremely small and pricey. It cost my small party of 3 adults and one 6 year old $81.00 for dinner. Just rediculous. And we all left hungry and broke.
