Dr. Robert Van Boven has been unreachable both for follow-up appointments and at a crucial time when we need him to support the Physician Cognitive History Form process requested by Insurance for Long Term Care. Unless you want to be left in a lurk, I would sadly not recommend him.
Dr. Van Boven, I will continue to sing your praises! Back in 2004, he was practicing in Northern Minnesota. I had gone to Dr after Dr, for years, being told it's all in my head, You have a stress headache, you have yet another sinus infection. Not only did Dr. Van Boven, take me seriously, he did a complete run up of tests on me, asap. He found the problems. One being a brain aneurysm, the other Chiari. Life changing news for me. He saved my life. I had lost years and was losing use of hands, sleep, and career was at risk. I refused to be disabled. He was only Dr that listened and got the MRI done that found that damaged discs between vertebrae. His support lead to a disc replacement C6C7 handled by Dr Stokes and it changed my life. My wife had an appointment at 10 am - no one was at the office and no one answered the phones. Waited for 25 minutes and called multiple times with no response. Frustrating experience to say the least.
I was seen by Dr. van Boven at BS&W ER having had a stroke that paralyzed my hand. He kept asking if I had had surgery. No I didn’t. He kept asking over and over. Suddenly I recalled that I recently had a procedure for varicose veins in a doctor’s office, but didn’t realize was considered surgery The site is exactly where a blood clot originated. He just persisted, found what he needed, worked to reverse the stroke symptoms 100%. He had my admiration and appreciation. This was 7 years ago.
