RecommendedNational Park Service facility with outdoor Venue similar to WolfTrap in Washington DC, but centered around Mountain Music/ Bluegrass. Also has a great museum for history and evolution of Mt Music and it's notable personalities. Display documents not only the music and musicians but also the roots and evolution of it's instruments. Located on the 400+ miles of the Beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway Parkway 7 miles from Galax. Virginia.
I was lucky enough to go during the week on a Thursday and was fortunate enough to see 2 volunteers playing old time bluegrass and country music for free, from noon to 4 and it was rather enjoyable, they had a small donation jar for tips, it was very up close and personal as we got to sit only feet away from them and there couldn't have been more than 25 chairs in the breezeway
I love listening to bluegrass, country, folk ect...at the blue ridge music center. It's such a wonderful feeling hearing music being played all through the mountains.

Best music, best setting for music. Steep Canyon Rangers demonstrated at their July 14 2018 concert how much they have upped their game. They have moved into the upper stratosphere last night. Double encores! We gave it an 11 (out of 10).
