Great local alternative for food in Gruene. The Gruene Tomato BLT is delicious. Chicken and waffles were also great. Place was busy, but service was good. And get the fritter appetizer too

Wow! This place was incredible! Cute little hole in the wall. The menu states the food is made fresh so expect to wait 25 minutes. We got the Christina’s Chicken and the Gringo Chicken and both were blown away. Gluten free options are clearly labeled. This is a must stop when in Gruene if you want good food!
I absolutely love The Birdhouse. We have been there so many times and they have the best chicken in our area. Probably the best chicken I’ve ever had. The Fried Chicken Plate is some of the best chicken I’ve ever had. Always ask for the breasts.
We drove to Gruene to get away from all the fiesta festivities in San Antonio. We wanted to try something different to eat before we headed back.
