Great Outdoors store I love the backpacker. They sell all kinds of clothing, gear and equipment for outdoor activities. We shop at the backpacker for skiing equipment. This is one of the few places in Baton Rouge that sell ski items. There prices can be a little high but as I said earlier you cannot find a lot of ski stuff in Baton Rouge. The selection of ski googles, hats, pants, and jackets are great. I know I can always find good stuff here that is quality and won't fall apart.
RecommendedStopped in today, visiting the area from Texas, everyone in the store was very helpful and friendly. The store has a wide variety of items and gear including some hard to find items. The employees, although working hard and very busy, always stopped to ask if I needed any help finding an item or if they could answer any questions. I recently went here for the first time, and I will absolutely be back! I’m pretty new to backpacking, and I didn’t really know what I was looking for as far as gear. Aubrey was super patient and helpful and helped me find the perfect bag and sleeping bag! If you’re looking for camping/hiking gear, this is your place!
You guys sold me the RADDEST snow boots for my trip to Alaska..... even dog sledding they said “you may want to try these...” - I said no I am fine & the North Face boots you got me WERE SO WARM. Thanks to all the folks at Backpacker BATON ROUGE! David & Marj Bass

Walter, Austin and Tyler are great. Walter specifically went above and beyond with customer service. I have a 2017 Hobie Pro Angler that had bent drive shafts. Tyler posted in a forum I follow that I could have it replaced free. Took me a while to find time for the drive to BR from Nola, but they took care of everything. Walter then met me in Nola when my drive was ready to save me from driving back to BR. I couldn’t be more happy and will support this store anytime I can! Thanks again guys.
