We went with a Terra Cotta smooth aluminum shingle roof for our green bungalow and are really happy with the result. The roofers were able to install the new roof over the existing roof, saving money. It went up in a couple days with only two workers. While the up-front cost of a metal roof is higher than a composition roof, we liked the fact that we won't have to re-roof again. The shingles we installed on our roof look amazing, we are getting compliments from people just walking by. I love the look and color (aluminum tile charcoal gray), and the many colors and roof tile designs will satisfy and picky homeowner. I love the fact that it is 1/4 the weight of asphalt tile so the walls will have less strain on them, and that it will keep the attic cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Mountaintop Metal Roofing installed Perma Lock aluminum shingles on our house and detached garage. We are pleased with their appearance and performance. We decided on the aluminum shingles due to the high levels of rain and aggressive moss in the PNW.
