I'm writing this between barfs – i have been to the thai orchid before and every time it was good but i just ate there with my boyfriend, and i will never go again. Has gone downhill – I used to count on this Thai Orchid restaurant for good food, but had a bad experience there recently. I tried to tell the waiter in a low-key way that things weren't working out (entre was undercooked and beer was served in warm glasses). He ignored me. I didn't make a fuss at the time time, because I didn't want to create a bad experience for the nice family sitting near us. Consistantly Good Thai – This is the thai restraunt in which I set the standard by. When I go to any other Thai restraunt I expect them to meet or beet the quality of food I get from Thai orchid. I eat lunch and dinner here about 1-2 times a week and have always get consistant good food. My favorites are the "86. Pad Ke Mauh", "81 Pad Thai" the Lettuce wraps, and pumpkin curry. Best thai food in Portland – I have eaten at many a thai restaurants, but none have ever satisfied my craving for the delicious food made at thai orchid. They take it to the next level, where the food is never overly oily, spicy (unless you ask for it), or too saucy. Thai Orchid is the best in Portland – The food is very fresh and flavorful. The wait staff is quite friendly. I like their Pad Thai and Green Curry Chicken. Plenty of parking at this location.
Great food, nice atmosphere, and plenty of parking – I love their appetizer -- fish cake, it is so good. Stir fried catfish w/chili is wonderful and the Pad Thai is the best. It has plenty of parking so I don't have to drive around to look for parking.

I don't get it – I have heard several people rave about Thai Orchid so I decided to try it out. I don't understand the hype. The vegetables were good, and not overcooked, which is always a plus. But the food itself was somewhat bland in taste.
The I-Don't-Wanna-Cook-Tonite meal – Sadly, have seen a decrease in quality of food in the last year (been going here about twice a month since they opened). Most problems seem to be related to an inability to keep up with the incredibly long line of customers on your average night-- veggies are undercooked, dishes are a bit more thrown together than they used to be, and take-out pad thai ordered "medium hot" will often have a *killer* pocket of red pepper in one corner (not mixed in).
