RecommendedThe Thaddeus house is a great option to escape the chaos of the city and get some peace and R&R in a beautiful natural setting! Ample opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities with easy access to trails or skiing. Or, some may want to simply lounge and enjoy the comfort and spaciousness of this historic home! The house has great amenities, including a salt-water treated pool, a jacuzzi, and a fully loaded kitchen with lots of space to prep & cook. The rooms are sizable with comfortable beds. Highly recommend this spot!
What an incredible experience we had at the Thaddeus Twitchell House. This was our second time visiting this venue with friends, and whether going in winter to ski & snowboard, or summer to lounge around the pool and play volleyball, this place is the bees knees. Totally worth it - very grateful - many thanks!

This February marked our fifth year visiting the Thaddeus Twitchell House, and it is always such a great trip! The bedrooms are all spacious enough to not feel on top of each other, not to mention most (if not all) have private bathrooms - amazing! The house is always clean, inviting, and comfortable for groups - the fire place in the front living room is soo cozy. This venue is one of a kind, especially for groups of 12-16 people! It has exceptionally spacious bedrooms, private bathrooms in most bedroom suites, and it is walking distance to a shuttle stop that takes you straight to Sunday River! We used to rent a different house every winter for an annual ski trip, but once we found this house we have come back every year since. A great deal and amazing experience for groups of family or friends trying to escape the city and enjoy everything Maine has to offer!
The Twitchell House was perfect for our group ski trip. We have been going on this trip for 8 years now and this has been the most comfortable accommodations by far. The bedrooms are comfortable and each has its own bathroom. The common areas were great for everyone to spend time together -- we were even able to fit our whole group at the dinner table. My friends and I have been going to Thaddeus for 7 years now. It's always been an amazing home, but this was the first year since new ownership took over, and the place is even better. John is super thoughtful and seems to really care about the guest's stay. Very easy to communicate with, extremely quick with a return text or call. Can't wait to see what improvements are made in 2021!
This was a wonderful house for our family get together. The bedrooms are clean and comfortable. The common areas are very comfortable as well. The whole house has a great energy. It’s also close to all activities, downhill & xcountry skiing, hiking, parks, etc.
This home was just what our family needed! With our daughter getting married just next door at the 1888 barn wedding venue, the house became a hub for the wedding party. It had all the amenities we needed and more, with bathrooms in every bedroom of the house and a salon station in the suite. The home was clean, well stocked and decorated beautifully and would be excellent for any large party gatherings, did we mention dog friendly!
