I would advise anyone to be careful before paying any co-pays at this facility. They obtained the wrong information when checking to see how much of my deductible had been met., therefore resulting in a significant overcharge to me. This was indeed verified by my claims administrator at my company that I was overcharged. When I talked to the business office and asked for a refund they said that they would not do it until I was done with my treatment. This has created a financial burden on my family. I also learned that this ... read more

Laurel Heights has both good and bad. Mostly though, we observed negative things from the facility. For example: Our son broke out in a rash that was quite serious and they gave him a shot to help with the reaction to the medication. When I talked to a nurse 2 days later they did not have notes that they had even given him a shot. I was glad I had written down what they had told me the night the rash became a problem. When we would bring out son items to use or have they would not "check it in" until we asked about it 3 or 4... read more

I loved River Oaks. I spent 5 weeks in Unit 3 (the trauma center). The staff were amazing. I loved my therapist and all the nurses were so great and compassionate. All of the patients got to know one another very well and since it was the trauma unit we did everything together, including eating on the unit instead of going to the cafeteria. The unit was nice; there are couches, a kitchen stocked with food, an art area to get creative, and a ping-pong table for fun. There is a small patio outside for hourly breaks with a bask... read more

My 13 year old son attended Laurel Ridge in San Antonio between 4/8 and 4/11 of 2015. My family and I reside over five hours away from San Antonio and, due to my work schedule my wife was the only person to attend the admittance prior to my travel to be in town during treatment a few days later. Less than 24 hours into treatment, the faculty and my wife had a group meeting to discuss my son's problem. They did not bother to conference me in on this discussion even though a request was made. At this discussion, Dr. John Adams... read more

Dirty place indeed........Dirty, nasty place...nasty employees too. Employees there are scarier then the inmates. What a joke this place is.You would get better help from the people that live under bridges...just saying. How has this place stayed open?

This place isn't horrible or scary. The staff might be unprofessional, but they're people, relateable people. I felt like I could talk to them normally. Some of the nurses were rude but I talked to the staff about it and they helped me. I felt like all the patients and staff were a family and I was welcome.

I thank "God" for all the reviews because we were considering Hickory Trail for our son, since we have insurance & want the best available care I'm researching several facilities before we make a decision. It shocks me that this place is recommended by our insurance provider. I'm mind-boggled as to why no one has sued this place & forced their closing!

It sounds like the child and adult facilities are organized and run very differently. I attended the adult program. I have not visited, nor attended the child program, so I cannot attest to it. I would highly recommend the adult program and I am in a "related field of rehabilitation." I am saddened to hear that the previous poster called it the worst of his youth. It makes me feel terrible that he had such a horrible experience. How long ago was this? Could it have improved since then? Could it be run with a different philos... read more
