I negotiated a deal for a Toyota Corolla over text with salesman Tim Soucie in April 2021. I live in a small town in Eastern Oregon about four hours away from Bend that doesn't have much of a vehicle selection. Tim and I came to an agreement on the price of the car and he even told me he would throw in a new set of tires. I told Tim I would meet him at the dealership that Saturday morning between 11 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. I told him I was driving four hours to his location and would be purchasing the car because I was not driving four hours for no reason. He texted me that we have a deal. I drove to the dealership two days later that Saturday morning and arrived 15 minutes early at 10:45 a.m. When I arrived at the dealership, they told me that someone was already test driving the car that I had made an agreement to purchase. I told them I drove four hours to purchase this car and already made an agreement with Tim Soucie to purchase the car for the price we agreed upon. I showed two employees the text message exchange between myself and Tim Soucie where he even texted me "deal" on the vehicle. I was told there must have been some mistake and was asked to sit in the lobby while they figured the situation out with the manager. I waited for about 20 minutes with no one helping me. The sales team were going in and out of the manager's office during this time and would glance over at me through the corner of their eyes but made every effort to avoid me. Finally, tired if being ignored, I asked one of the salesmen, what was going on with the car? He told me the car was already sold. I was upset and repeated that I had driven four hours to purchase this car and their employee had made an agreement with me in text. I was told that the manager said there was nothing they could do. I was very upset at this point and left the dealership before I lost my temper. I still have the entire text thread of the written agreement between the dealership and myself. This is Breach of Contract and also a violation of Oregon Law (non-criminal). I sent an email addressed to the General Manager of the dealership requesting resolution but did not receive any response. I am confounded at the way I was treated by this company. I would not recommend doing business with this dealership.

Business Response:

I am sorry you were so frustrated attempting to purchase a vehicle. I was able to review all the TEXT between yourself and the sales associate Tim. Tim did agree to sell it at the price you requested but he requested you fill out and online application to secure the deal. I can see the link he sent you ... https://www.goteamhyundai.com/finance-application/. This was sent to you at 4:27pm on 4/14/2021. You responded within the minute "Yep. I'll try to get it done tomorrow." The application was never submitted. Tim assumed you were not wanting to go through with the deal or you wanted to see it first before officially purchasing the vehicle by signing contracts. It makes sense. I would be weary of signing anything committing me to a purchase until I had seen the car. The car was advertised and someone came in to purchase it before you arrived. We had no choice but to sell it to that customer as it was not sold at time the other client made an offer and signed a purchase order. I completely understand your frustration but can see every text between you and the sales associate. He did nothing wrong that I can see. You mention breach of contract. The was no contract ever printed. If by breach of contract you mean the text where he agreed to the price of $9000. That was not a contract. He agreed to sell it at your requested number. Your response was ..."I'll buy it provided it's clean and no mechanical issues." You have offered to purchase it with a stipulation. This is part of the negotiation but not a contract to purchase the vehicle. I would be happy to show you all the recorded TEXTS between you and Tim. Call me and we can set a time to review them together. Sincerely, Eric B***** General Manager

This is my actual review that I wrote on another review site.... Please, please, please- I know it's long but read to the end if you ever even THINK about bringing your car here for service. This place is a SCAM, RACKET, FRAUD, SHAM, RIP-OFF ... and any other synonym you can think of. Here's the whole scoop and nothing but the scoop- Background: My brother works for a Hyundai dealer in AZ. He is a top-notch mechanic wanted by most all of the service shops in the greater Tucson area. I was there for a visit back in the fall of 2017 and *** *****, the owner of multiple car dealerships, was having a multi-dealership end-of-season blow-out and my brother convinced me to go look at the ******* ******and that they (his dealership) would get me a great deal (with family discount on top). Now, mind you, I was, at that time a 15-year, 2 car, loyal Subaru owner. Long story short- I went, I drove, I liked, and I bought. Side note: *** ***** provides life time, that's right, LIFE TIME routine maintenance (ie. your oil changes and tire rotations that cost $70+ here in Central OR) for FREE! Fast forward to two days ago: I went to Team Hyundai of Bend's website to schedule on-line a ROUTINE oil/change and tire rotation. When you go to do this on-line you will see 3 tiers; $56.95, $76.90, and a ridiculous $225.25 package. I opted for the mid-range after consulting with my brother (even though he even said that same "package" should be no more than $50 [AZ pricing]). Today: I get to my appointment and am greeted by a nice young man, Damon. He said, "So you're here for your 25,000mi service?" I said, "I'm here for an oil change and tire rotation." He then said, "Says here, your here for a 25,000 mile service." I reiterated that I was there for the $76 oil change and tire rotation and even had him show me his computer screen which actually even showed $76.90 in the lower right hand corner. Damon had me sign two pages (top page showing what I signed up for and he laid that on top of the 2nd page but made sure that only the signature line was showing) and said, "Ok, sign at the 2 X's." [MY BAD for not looking at the 2nd page!] Hour later: I go to pick up my car and same, nice Damon says, "That will be $211.54." WTF?!?! I said, "We discussed this THOROUGHLY and you even showed me your computer screen that said $76.90!!!" I was livid! Damon then got extremely agitated (directed at me) and said, "I'm gonna make this right," and after throwing all my paperwork around (literally) he disappeared for just under 10 minutes. When he comes back he says, "How does this suit you?" and shows me that he is charging me $63.19. I asked him not to cop an attitude towards me and that I was willing to pay for what I asked for (which was $76.90). But I paid and went on my way as I was done. Now: Looking at invoice the only thing itemized is what I ORIGINALLY asked for; oil change with some special additive (which for some reason adds up to be 98.10 instead of $76.90) and "5000 Interval Scheduled Maintenance" [NOT itemized] that supposedly cost $112.65 in LABOR. And here's the icing on the cake: I had a jacked up front rim with a smudge on the tire from getting hung up on a curb the other day. That rim is STILL in it's original front passenger-side place. So someone please tell me - how is that even POSSIBLE if you ROTATED my tires!!!!! PS, after an email to Service Manager as well as General Manager - no one's gotten back to me even though I got an automated email saying someone would call me in 1/2 hour..............

They have the wrost customer service. The GM said that he is a lawyer and yelled at me on the phone and wouldn't let me speak. I had bought a car from them and they let me drive off the lot. Then they call me a month later and said that I owed them $3,000.00 and I said really I don't remember that in the agreement. They also sent my mom the paperwork to sign and the finance department sent my mom the customer personal banking information and I called and said that to Hyundai and they said oh sorry you can just throw that away. I will never buy a car there again.
