About this business

Ellen Chetwynd is more than a lactation consultant. She takes her decades of experience, combines it with craniosacral therapy, mixes in her research, and provides care at the leading edge of breastfeeding support. Her practice is designed to solve difficult breastfeeding problems. Her techniques are especially effective at overcoming breastfeeding pain, poor milk transfer, dysfunctional suck, repetitive blocked ducts, and retraining infant suck after frenotomy or frenectomy. Working with Ellen means being a full participant... read more

I am so thankful to have found Ellen and the team at Teaching Babies To Nurse! After several months of struggling with breast-feeding, getting a tongue tie release, seeing a different LC, and my baby still not feeding well, it was such a relief for Ellen to be able to immediately identify the root issue my baby was having and teach us a simple method to correct it! Finally at six months he is feeding well and gaining weight well, and we are so thankful! Ellen is truly kind, observant, and so knowledgeable.

Ellen was the third lactation specialist we visited, and I am so grateful we were finally sent to her - only wish we’d seen her first! She is truly an expert in her field. After observing my baby attempt to nurse, she immediately clocked the issues to address, which no one else had identified. In three visits we went from being dependent on a nipple shield and baby usually just refusing the breast altogether, to her consistently latching without a shield and getting a full feed from the breast. It took work between appointme... read more

I met with Jessica about an issue that arose with my 14 month old nursling. She was so compassionate and gave great encouragement and advice. I felt like she was really supportive of what I wanted and gave me creative ideas of how to continue breastfeeding. I was almost brought to tears by the comfort and hope that I received here!

We found Ellen a few weeks into a very challenging lactation experience with our first child. She came highly recommended and gave us hope and techniques that we had not received from the previous 4 IBCLCs we had worked with. She was compassionate with me during a very tender time, and did not at all make me feel any less than for deciding to pump and supplement when direct breastfeeding was just not clicking for me and my first baby. So, when I got pregnant with my 2nd child I knew I wanted to engage with Ellen and team bef... read more

This review is hard for me to write, but not because the service I received was lacking. Jessica sat patiently with me through weeks of highs and lows in my breastfeeding journey, and showed me kindness beyond what I could have ever expected. She and Ellen did what they could for my baby's feeding journey, which unfortunately didn't end the way I had hoped. However, they went above and beyond in the personal care and resources they gave me while I was struggling postpartum. I would and will recommend their practice to any fa... read more
