love their sushi! I've had sushi in Okinawa and in Tokyo, Japan. I can honestly say that the sushi offered in the Tea Pavillion compares nicely. They offer a variety of sushi and an outstanding variety of teas. Try their California roll and be sure to take home some the jasmine tea. PROS: Serene setting and outstanding sushi CONS:
Walk and snack on A peaceful setting to stop by after you visit the Japanese Friendship Garden. Go for the mashed potatoes and the rice bowls! Other stuff there is pricey.
mochi ice cream! I love this place. I always stop by for a snack when I am in Balboa park. I get their mochi ice cream. It is the only place I can find the mochi with the doughy ball outside. They are little Japanese delicacies in my opinion. Only 75 cents each, I try each of the 6 flavors. I recommend the mocha, red bean, and mango. They are so good.
Stop in for some tea, and stay for lunch! Whether you're going to take a stroll through the friendship gardens or just a stroll through Balboa Park, step inside the cafe and choose from a variety of delicious green teas - and if you're hungry stay for lunch. The selection of food is considerably less than the beverages, but what they make is pretty tasty.
