Great bar seats, wonderful dirty gin martini and espresso martinis. The salmon tartare and Brussels sprouts was delicious.
I don't want to ding their current rating, so I'm giving four stars because they tried. We ate there last week and had pre-determined meal consisting of a small artichoke salad (3/5) a tasty chicken and risotto dish (4.5/5) and finally some kind of flourless brownie with a raspberry (I think) compote that was nearly inedible. For the Austin Powers fans, I sculpted mine into a voodoo effigy of The Fonz after smoking some Peruvian prayer hash, but who at the end of the day can honestly say they haven't done that? This was used to be very special to my husband and I. It was a first date restaurant and we loved it. Unfortunately something has changed in recent years and I have had the same bad experience twice in a row, which now becomes a pattern, and it involves service (being seated and wait time to get food). Outstanding brunch on this visit to UVA. Best omelet I've had in a long time. The French fries are a delight. And the Bloody Mary was a treat. The service was prompt and friendly. They took care to accommodate our daughter's food allergy. I will be back on subsequent visits to town!
