We went tonight for restaurant week. We chose Tavern and Grocery after reviewing all the other restaurant menus because of the halibut. It was the $45 menu. We drove an hour to get their and after being seated and reviewing the menu the fish selection was cod . I questioned the waitress and told her that Halibut was on their website and in the paper . We came here for our anniversary dinner. We had been for lunch previously and enjoyed that experience. The appetizers were delicious. We ordered fries and brussel sprouts as our appetizers and they were the best part of our meal. The main entree was a major disappointment. I wanted to try the duck but since I’m celiac they suggested I put it over sautéed kale. It was the tiniest bit of duck and did not even taste that good. Review is based on two visits. The 1st one we only had cocktails at the upstairs bar. 2nd visit we ate dinner, as well as cocktails. Service is very good and the decor is charming. Again, great cocktails made by skilled bartenders. Dinner service was a bit slow because it was a busy holiday weekend Saturday night. I enjoyed the steak frittes.
