Service is ok but food is not! – Went to the restaurant after seeing good ratings. As a person that loves and knows sushi from all parts of the world (Japan,Korea), I do not recommend Tank for a person that wants quality and complete sushi experience. They don't carry the high quality fish such as Toro (fatty tuna), and the rice was not seasoned enough. Rice is a crucial part of nigiri (sushi) and Tank's rice ruined the taste of the mediocre fish. Good place to take a new-to-sushi eater – I am a recent convert to sushi - in fact, I don't eat fish at all. Tank provides plenty of vegetarian maki options as well as a variety of appetizers. The goat cheese tempura and Ocean Sundae roll are some of my favorites. The atmosphere is open and modern, and the martinis are wonderful. Best Sushi, worst host...but definitely best sushi – The only thing keeping this place from Sushi perfection is the stuffy greeting you get from the host when you walk in the door. He's a little full of himself and doesn't know how to many the place. Here's a tip. If you go on a weekend and do not have reservations, multiply the waiting time he gives you by 6-8. Worst service ever. – I don't know who posted the good reviews for this place here. I went there with a girlfriend on a Tuesday evening. We were seated promptly.That's about the only good thing I can say about the place and the decor is decent ,that's the other thing. One of the Worst Hosts Ever – Yes, it was Saturday night but when we came in we were told it would be a 25 minute wait. After 45 minutes we asked how much longer could we expect (as the host completely ignored us while we stood there waiting.) He curtly replied that he was "doing the best he could" and basically dismissed us without giving any idea of how much more time we would have to wait. Don't go on the weekend if you don't want to wait. – Dude, a 45mins wait for sushi is average, I've been to sushi restaurants (namely kamehachi) and have to wait for an hour and 50mins for sushi on saturday. Try going to Tank on the week day if you don't want to wait......and a question, did you have a reservation and had to wait an hour? or did you just walk in? Good Sushi – I enjoyed dining here. We had a great waitress. The food was excellent. The Ocean Sundae Maki, the Kobe Beef small plate (can't remember the name) and scallops were excellent. The Mochi ice-cream was great but have had better. They have a great sake list. I would definitely recommend this place!
BEST SUSHI IN THE CITY...AND IVE BEEN TO ALL OF THEM – This is by far the best place for sushi in the city. My fiance and I live in the River North area and we make to Tank ritualistically each Friday or Saturday night. eh – came to tank for half price sushi- i'm glad, because if it were full price i'd be a lot more disappointed than i was already. the sushi was good, but not fantastic and was definitely worth the half price-- i.e., 6-8 for rolls instead of 12-18. the waitstaff were pretty rude, the host particularly. the sushi chefs seemed to rely on lots of wasabi for the flavor in their rolls, not the fish.
