Tamko's Evergrain Decking About 8 years ago, I had a deck installed using Tamko's Evergrain composite deck material that has a 25 year 'limited' warranty. While getting a quote to modify this deck from the original installer, he pointed out to me several things indicating that the deck material was 'failing'. Much of the 'wood' texture had come off, many pieces were warped and/or bowing, boards were splitting, etc.... I took about 85 pictures documenting this and sent it to Tamko (owned by ********) as part of a warranty cla... read more
"Buyer BEWARE" ..Do Not Purchase TAMKO SHINGLES.. If you are reading this posting and are looking to purchase a roof shingle for your residence or company and are looking to TAMKO, save your hard earned money and "BYPASS this unscrupulous, unethical and amoral" company and their products. The 30 Year SHINGLE themselves were "defective" from day one. Let your eyes be the judge (Photos) Info and redundant posting via Google https://goo.gl/maps/DjEDH5EPFqRWT9zi9 1.) Date roof was installed? 05 March 2009 2.) What TAMKO Shingle ... read more
Recently put Tamko Roof Shingles on my wood shed. After having all this summer heat you think the shingles should have bonded by now. Over half my shingles blew off my shed due to high winds last weekend. Packaging claims 30 year warranty, but it should say 30 day warranty. I took the rest of shingles off the roof which wasn't hard to do, and replace it with a sheet metal.
Tamko doesn’t stand up to their warranty like I feel like they should. I have a 30 year warranty shingle on my roof. It is now about 19 years old. They are starting to curl under . So I called the customer service to see what they would do. The sent out a service tech to look at the damage. They took photos and samples of the damage shingles. They sent me a letter back that they couldn’t do anything about the warranty. It was because the company I had put the the shingles on. They say where they had a nail about a half inch ... read more
I wish I had seen customer reviews of TAMKO products before contracting for our decking. I would be embarrassed to manufacture EverGrain composite decking by TAMKO. We had a contractor in last week to install gutters and his first comment upon seeing the deteriorated decking was "who provided that defective material?" TAMKO's response to us was "It's out of warranty." Not the response of a reputable company. Obvious manufacturing latent defects. Never again will I buy a TAMKO product and I'll do my best to warn others of the... read more
Business response:
TAMKO Building Products absolutely abides by the limited warranty associated with the purchase of its decking and railing products. Copies of the limited warranty are available at TAMKO's distributors and at ********************
I'm very frustrated with Tamko's policy on transferring their 30 year warranty. They market a 30 year transferable warranty. However, their policy for transferring the warranty is very rigid. I can only assume that this product will not hold up for 30 years. Otherwise, why would they not have a friendlier warranty policy? Their policy is the warranty must be transferred to a new owner within 30 days, and can only be transferred once. We called on day 30, didn't get an answer from the company (truthfully we probably called th... read more
We built our back deck with Tamko decking. The deck is flaking. Tamko is refusing to pay for the labor cost involved in ripping out the faulty product and rebuilding. RIDICULOUS! Why should we have to absorb the cost due to their junky material? I have been dealing with "******" on the phone who claims to be the supervisor of claims. She is extremely unaccommodating. When I asked for a revised quote, she came in even lower. Shame on this company. I would never recommend them. I went down to talk to the dealer where I bought ... read more
Business response:
TAMKO administers every limited warranty claim in according to and based upon the limited warranty in affect at the time the decking and/or railing materials were purchased; therefore, comparing individual claims may not be a valid comparison as the materials were likely purchased at different times and likely fall under different limited warranties. ****** is a valued employee and was recently promoted in part for her attention to detail as she administers decking and railing claims. It is not uncommon for TAMKO customers t... read more
Tamko replied to my posting with a retort, but the decay did not show up till after the sale of the house and I will prove no issue was stated or compensated for with a copy of my home purchase contract if requested. The wife of the builder who built the deck was the realtor and when I asked the husband he said, "your on your own" this e mail is dated months after the sale. I will forward this e mail if requested. The home inspection showed no problem at the time of sale. The well written reply is only well written, but is n... read more
We bought a home with a TAMKO deck which was brand new when we moved into our house. The decking warped and peeled off after only a few years and so we attempted to have the product replaced under warranty (within 10 years of installation). We started the process of sending in all documentation TAMKO required for replacement but it seemed like every step we checked off led to more things we had yet to complete before they would fix it. In the end we grew frustrated in dealing with this company and decided we really didn't wa... read more
Business response:
From January 9, 2015 to January 26, 2015, TAMKO reached out to Ms. ******** 3 times for an itemized material estimate that included the quantity and length of the products needed, which was required to properly administer her claim. No one has ever responded to TAMKO's January 26, 2015 emailed request; therefore, Ms. *********** claim was closed.
