They have the best Bombay Gin Martini EVER!!!!!!!! Most people think indian food is hot n spicey, but not according to Taj. Ever since chef took over(jan 07) the food has been outstanding cause you can order just as spicy as you like and the service has been just awesome. The restaurant is nice and clean and the people actually speak ENGLISH!!!!!!!!!! something all the other restaurants lack!!!! ANd I love how bathrooms are far from dining rooms!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best Indian Food in Town As far as food is concerned, This is the BEST Indian food anywhere in the vicinity and I have tried both Maharaja and Darbar India. The restaurant is beautifully decorated from the inside and the waiter was very courteous. As other reviews suggest, the service may be lacking, but I never had problem with it. Overall, Just a Great Experience!!!!!!!!!!!!
Indian Glimmer of Hope in Madison – While it's not like Indian food in large, truly ethnically-diverse cities (e.g., L.A., Houston, etc.) it ain't bad for Madison. Sag had waaaayyy too much cream in it (it looked more like Stouffer's Creamed Spinach than sag paneer). Also, the chicken tikka masala was inordinately sweet. Service was poor. But I would go again if I were in town for the weekend.
Lunch Buffet I love Indian food. Well, spicy food in general. This restaurant serves Indian food-buffet style for lunch, and the food was excellent. Upon entering, all that spicy aroma just wafts through... and the best part is, you don't have to wait. Just go to the buffet table and grab a plateful of food. Good food, not too spicy, good for the general customers.
Delicious North and South Indian Food I have not dined in the restaurant, so I am commenting on the take-out my husband got from the Taj - Chicken Tikka Masala and Vindaloo Beef, with garlic naan bread - and it was some of the best Indian food I have ever had. Normally we have just done a buffet and not ordered dinners, but we discovered that by ordering dinners you can ask for extra spicy, which made the food even more delicious.
